"In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light."
____________

Khaos is the oldest Lockette known, forever lonely as her spirit is that of a Sky Serpent, the only one in existence. She loves all the Lockettes that came after her as her own siblings, she would die for them all. She and Gaia, the spirit of Earth, are irreparably linked. Gaia created her with all of her love, her light, and her desire to protect.
As the first Lockette, it is her duty to guide all saura to the Festival of Light, and she does so in her Sky Serpent form. In this form, she can swim through the sky and camouflage herself in its colours, watching over the Heartlands and beyond, seldom choosing to be seen, and instead watching. Waiting. Protecting.

Her body and saura can become completely invisible in the sky, refracting all light. Her physical appearance alters slightly with the hearts of all Lockettes. At times of peace, she is opalescent and awe-inspiring. At times of uncertainty, she starts to become blackened and charred. And blood red at times of war. Her serpent form also takes on these colours and its form shifts to represent these states.

There are stories passed down through legends of a crimson serpent that descended upon the battlefield at times of hardship. The War between Lockettes and Humans was such a disgusting waste of life, that it rattled Khaos to her very core. The beast tore through humans and turned the tides in the Lockette's favour, but none saw the tears it shed as it did. The hatred from the war, the pain and death, stirred such fury in her that she could not transform back into her humanoid appearance for years after the war had ended.
For some reason, as this serpent flew the skies of her beloved war-torn home; weeping and lashing out in unconsolable turmoil, she was drawn to a forest clearing. Here she saw the most beautiful field of moon lilies that were so pure and untouched by the war, they reflected the light of the moon and appeared to be glowing. She decided here is where she would sleep, and rest, even if it was for eternity. In fact, she slept so long that the lilies that were her bed started to reclaim her body. She accepted this, she would be returned to her mother, to Gaia, to rest with her forever. That... was the perfect ending for her.

But Gaia had other plans, she came to Khaos in her endless dream and comforted her daughter. She reminded her of her love for her people, and how they have suffered without her. Even if she would prefer to stay unseen to heal, she could not neglect her duty any longer. She was to guide new saura to their bodies so they could live complete lives. As awful as the war was, while she was asleep the world would have surely moved on from that bloodshed, they needed her now more than ever. As she was awakening, Gaia said something to her she didn't quite understand, something about a long lost soul needing guidance home...a faint, blurry winged silhouette swam into her vision but was gone before she could focus on her. Khaos opened her eyes in a daze. She dusted off moss and plucked the lilies from between her joints, now in humanoid form once again.

For years after that, Khaos watched her beloved siblings from the sky. She regretted the time she lost, they needed her after the war, and they went through so much pain without her. She made sure she guided the new spirits each Festival, and she stuck around to celebrate in her own way. She smiled when she heard talk from newly formed and elder souls talk about an iridescent serpent streaking through the sky and striking the lake, followed soon after by the new saura finding their home. She was never one for fame, she didn't care to be recognised but knowing they appreciated her flooded her heart with warmth.
