Garden Help
Fox excitedly runs around tilling up the soil in a large patch of land.
Charlee hesitantly picks out the weeds and sticks from the freshly churned dirt. “Am I doing this right Fox?” he says hesitantly holding up a clump of grass.
Fox rushes over and looks at it. “Hell yea! That’s the stuff, we want it all gone so that nothing tries to grow over our little mushrooms.” He grins toothily. “You’re doing great! Thanks for coming out to help. I am super excited for our future harvest, aren’t you?” His fluffy tail wags excitedly at the thought of fresh plump mushrooms.
Charlee nods and picks up some more. “Yea, I just hope I don’t mess anything up for you. This isn’t really anything I’m that good at.”
Fox glares briefly at the chicken boi’s words and shakes his head. He plops an arm around the other Dextroluma’s shoulders. “Char don’t be like that. Our garden is going to be great! Keep doing what you’re doing, and I am going to grab the logs ok?”
Charlee nods and goes back to picking out ruffage and gathering it into his basket.
Fox watches for a second admiring his companion’s work, then proceeds to bring the logs over. Just a couple at a time, making sure to give Charlee enough time to gather all the unnecessary things. The desert Dextroluma was a little slow at all this but that’s ok, he was still learning. And even though Fox was excited to get everything finished, they weren’t really in a rush. Fox just needed to keep moving so he didn’t seem impatient. That would only make Charlee more nervous.
After moving all the logs over and stacking them neatly at the edge of the prepared plot, Fox goes to where Charlee is still digging in the dirt. “How’s it going, buddy?” He props his chin on Charlee’s head and takes a quick knaw on his bone horn.
Charlee jumps a little in surprise. “Ah, um I think its ok.” He looks up at the fluffy Dextroluma chewing on his horn. “Sorry I’m not very fast at this.”
Fox stops and pats the other’s head. “Hey no sweat! Ok maybe a little sweat its hot as heck out here. I don’t know how you aren’t drenched! I mean look at me, it’s like I dunked my head in a bucket or something.” He chuckles. “You desert dex have it soooo easy.” He grabs onto Charlee’s horn again, this time with his hand, and gives him a good shake. “Come on man! Let me help you finish this up so we can get to planting and then we can actually go dunk ourselves in that pond I found. You brought food, yea?”
Charlee nods and keeps his head down to hide his flushed cheeks. “Uh, but I didn’t bring anything to swim in.”
Fox tilts Charlee’s head up so they can look in the eye. “Oh yea?? Now I am even more excited to get this all done! Come on!” He grabs the trash basket, and they finish up together, eager for lunch and the promise of swimming.
