Battle Reactions

Ashe was keeping up with the latest battles more closely than the average person would suspect. She had asked for constant updates, and while she was happy that the Verdant Kingdom was in a favorable position, she knew she could not afford to rest. 

“Did you hear? The Verdant Kingdom won another battle.” Diana sat across from Ashe’s desk. “Your formation plan worked like a charm.” Instead of looking pleased, Ashe instead scowled down at the paper she was scribbling ideas and maps on. “What’s wrong?” Diana pressed.

Ashe sighed. “It’s a good thing we’re winning battles, don’t get me wrong, but we know the kind of people Muramasa and Morgana are. They have no honor. As soon as they feel like they’re at a disadvantage, they’ll resort to underhanded tricks. I have to figure out what methods they could possibly employ and counteract them before it even happens. Lives depend on it.” 

“What do you have so far?” Diana gestured to the pages she was working on.

“I think the most effective tool available to them is to spread the corruption in battle.” Ashe explained. “Their soldiers would be completely immune while ours would be ravaged by sickness, and some would lose their minds and turn on us. Not only that, it would be easy to spread blighted spores through the air, so it wouldn’t take them long to come up with and execute such a plan. I think we need to redirect some of our factories to producing only ventilated masks, and send what we have on hand now to the front lines, with a constant supply until the entire army is equipped.”

Diana whistled. “Impressive.” She leaned forward and placed a comforting hand on top of Ashe’s. “You’re doing all you can. But remember, we’re all here to help; you don’t have to take this burden all by yourself.” She stood. “I’ll go get a shipment of  masks sent out and work out the factory logistics. I’ll also have word sent to King Nero about your suspicions.” 

“Thank you.” Ashe gave her wife a tender smile. They would both do everything in their power to ensure that the Verdant Kingdom won this war.
