Hathor's Reaction
Hathor thought of herself as someone kind and forgiving. As someone who would offer others second chances or the benefit of doubt. She was also a very passionate person. When she loved, she loved entirely, wholeheartedly. When she hated, she would not forgive.<span;> It was rare that she reached this point though. She tried to not get enraged easily. But this, right here? This was it. This crossed the line.
Wars were never pretty, she knew that. No war was without casualty, she knew that as well. But she expected that any self-respecting general would try to minimise those. She could not forgive intentional warfare against civilians. There was nothing that could excuse poisoning the land. Especially not with a biological weapon that was as lethal as these blighted mushrooms. That was beyond simple warfare. It was beyond simple conquest of a throne. Most importantly, it was beyond any reasonable course of action for a royal family drama. This was insanity. Cruel and downright evil insanity.
Hathor shook her head.
She despised humans for having invented such atricious devices as mines. These mushrooms were only marginally different from those. They didn't explode, but infecting indiscriminately anyone with a lethal disease, that mutilated the victim during its progression. What kind of twisted mind was necessary to come with such schemes to inyentionally harm others in this way, it was beyond Hathor's understanding.
The only silver lining in this awful situation was the fact that the forces of Verdant Kingdom made progress driving the aggressors out. Yet even if the war would be ending tomorrow, the deeds done so far had left deep wounds on the bodies and souls of the people, and the land itself. It was going to take years to heal from this, and a lot of scars were going to be left behind. All of this, for nothing. That was somehow even the worst of it all.
Hathor was never going to forgive Queen Morgana for that.
