Kuutar's Exhaustion

As soon as Kuutar learned about the war in Aerius, she felt a heavy tiredness overcoming her, that reached deep to her bones. She could see how livid Hathor was, but there was not even a spark of anger inside her. She was so very weary. It had been centuries since she last participated in fighting, back before she met her current partner. Back when she was with her former partner. They had been a good team, at least on the outside. But she had felt numb on the inside. Tired. Exhausted. Deeply and throughly exhausted, and little by little, it had dulled and extinguished all of her emotions.

She knew she could not get involved. Her current level of tiredness, although profound, was nothing compared to her condition back then. She never wanted to be that person again. Without emotions. Without joy. Without sympathy. Without mercy. Back then she had done things she did not want anyone to ever know about. Especially not Hathor, although Kuutar knew that her partner's past was not free of bloodshed either. Of course she had never pried for details. She preferred to not know, and in return to not share her secrets either. Repression was a powerful tool to keep her sanity intact. She was not going to put that ability's endurance to the test. 

Kuutar took a deep breath and absentmindedly patted Päivi's head. The pink gextro could move surprisingly quiet, especially when it came to cuddles or food. 

"You don't worry about the war, do you?", Kuutar whispered with a smiled. The little creature made some squeaky noises in response, digging her head deeper into Kuutar's palm, and began climbing onto the Lockette to find the perfect cuddle spot.

Päivi's levity put Kuutar at some ease. Instead of heavy numbness, there was a calm peace spreading in her soul.
