Prepping the Garden
Candice’s vibrant petals quivered with excitement as she flitted around the empty plot of land. It was a perfect day for starting a new garden—the sky was clear, the sun beamed happily, and a soft breeze carried the scent of wildflowers from the nearby meadow. But Candice couldn’t do it alone. This project needed helping hands, and she knew just the one to ask.
“Cindy! Over here!” Candice called, waving one leafy hand. Moments later, a bright Dex with a glowing mane of golden tendrils zoomed toward her, nearly tripping over her own feet as she came to an enthusiastic stop.
“Hi Candice!” Cindy beamed, her eyes sparkling with delight. “I heard you needed help with a garden? That sounds amazing!”
“Yes!” Candice nodded, her wings unfurling wider in gratitude. “There’s so much to do, though. We need to clear out these pesky weeds, spread fertilizer, and gather materials to make this plot flourish!”
Cindy clapped her hands together, a burst of radiant light rippling from her in her excitement. “Let’s get to it! I’ll pull those weeds faster than you can say ‘sunshine’!”
Bounding over to the edge of the plot, Cindy knelt down, grabbing fistfuls of weeds with gusto. Unfortunately, her enthusiasm quickly turned to chaos as she tugged too hard on one stubborn weed, sending herself tumbling backwards into a heap of dried grass and leaves.
“Oopsie! Heh, that one had some real fight in it,” Cindy giggled, brushing off her dress and scrambling back up.
Candice tried not to laugh but couldn’t help the tiny giggle that slipped out. “Maybe take it a bit slower, Cindy. It’s okay if we take our time.”
Cindy nodded vigorously, her cheeks flushing a deeper golden hue. Determined to prove herself, she took a more careful approach, gently pulling the weeds without yanking her whole body backward. This time, the weeds came out smoothly, and she let out a triumphant cheer.
“Gotcha! Take that, weeds!” she proclaimed, tossing the plants into a growing pile.
While Cindy focused on clearing the weeds, Candice worked on spreading rich, earthy fertilizer across the newly exposed soil. The Dex kept sneaking glances at Candice’s careful movements, trying to mimic her friend’s finesse. However, every time Cindy tried to spread the fertilizer, she ended up spilling half of it in uneven clumps.
Candice noticed and floated over with a reassuring smile. “You’re doing great, Cindy! Here, try spreading it out like this,” she demonstrated, her hands moving in a gentle, even pattern.
Cindy nodded, her focus sharpening. This time, she moved more gracefully, her light touch finally distributing the fertilizer more evenly. “Yes! Got it!” she exclaimed, bouncing on her toes.
“Perfect!” Candice cheered, her eyes glowing with approval. “Now, let’s gather some mulch and stones to decorate the edges. It’ll help keep the soil moist and make the garden look beautiful.”
Together, they set off to gather materials, with Cindy’s radiant energy making every task feel like an adventure. She collected smooth river stones with the same excitement as if they were precious gems, her laughter filling the air. Despite her earlier blunders, her genuine enthusiasm and willingness to learn made her the perfect helper.
By the time the sun began to dip below the horizon, the garden plot was ready. Rows of freshly planted seeds lay in rich soil, surrounded by a neat border of stones and mulch. Candice turned to Cindy, her petals practically glowing.
“Thank you, Cindy. This wouldn’t have been possible without your help.”
Cindy’s face brightened even more. “Anytime, Candice! I can’t wait to see what grows here!”
As they stood side by side, watching the newly prepared garden bathed in the soft glow of twilight, Candice knew that this little patch of earth would grow even more beautiful with Cindy’s light-hearted spirit woven into it.
