2. Snow Globe
It sat on the shelf, surrounded by old books and other little trinkets that bore the mark of time. But the round glass was free of dust, the wooden stance kept clean through repeated touches. Traces on the shelf further indicated that this item held special significance to the owner, despite the seemingly abandoned location, an attic.
There was not much space within the glass, a jagged green bottom and a simple red airplane with a tiny pilot dressed in yellow steering it. The green treetops below them was covered in the white flakes. A simple shake would change the calm scenery, sending the aircraft flying through a storm. But the pilot never crashed, despite the turbulences around them, they always persisted and in the end, glided through a calm sky, over an endless, snow-covered forest.
It was Frauke's most loved possession. There was something about the little pilot in their little glass-encased world that spoke to her on a level she didn't have words for. At times, she found herself wondering if the pilot missed their home. Where they were going. But they also looked genuinely happy. Perhaps the pilot was like Snorre and not concerned about a steady home, as long as they had their trusty aircraft to carry them across the world and through every storm.
