4. Cookies
Baking was Ulrike's secret passion. During their recent stay in the Verdant Kingdom, she had collected a couple recipes that she was now eager to try out.
She prepared the kitchen, so she would have as much space as she might need. The only items still occupying some space was a bowl, a scale, a whisk, some spoons, and a baking tray. She was a very precise baker, especially when it came to new recipes. She was convinced that the best approach was to stick to the instructions as closely as possible before making adjustments to tailor it to her and Ruby's personal tastes.
She smoothed out the piece of paper, where she had hastily written down the instructions several weeks ago. If the result was as good as it sounded, she would transfer it to her personal baking book.
"250g almond flour" stood at the top of the ingredients. Of course Ulrike had made sure she had all the required ingredients at hand.
She poured the required amount into the bowl and waited for the dust to settle.
"50g sugar"
It was not a cookie recipe if at least 1/6 of the dough was made of sugar.
"8g baking powder"
Another classic ingredient, although the measurement was a bit weird. But perhaps it was based on a common unit in the Verdant Kingdom.
"1 teaspoon of cinnamom"
Ah, here it was, the practically obligatory unclear measurement every recipe had. Ulrike decided to simply dip her spoon into the required space and whatever piled on top would be the right amount. She would need to make a note on the result afterwards.
"2 eggs"
That was easy enough.
Ulrike began mixing everything together. Due to the lack of moisture, the dough was a rather sticky and sluggish mass. But it made sense for it, from what she could tell already.
She covered her working space in a layer of powdered sugar, and then used two teaspoons to divide and shape the dough into balls that got rolled over the sugary ground before she placed them on the tray.
Every ball got half of a walnut to placed on top, to wear it as a little hat.
15 minutes at 170°C later, the cookies were done.
The recipe is real and works :D
