11. Icicles
The typewriter's clackering was the only sound in Shiori's office, as she was transferring her notes into a more legible format.
She stopped abruptly in the middle of the page. This didn't make much sense, even with magic involved. It was weird that she had not noticed it when quickly noting down the replies she was getting from the cop she had been talking to, but that was what the retyping was for. So the mysterious murder weapon was supposed to be ... icicles?
That didn't sound very believable to her. Of course she was no expert, but these things were brittle and not very sharp. Of course magic could take care of both these issues, but why would anyone wielding the necessary powers go through that effort, when freezing the victim was an option instead? But she wasn't the responsible investigator, nor a cryomancer of any sorts, so perhaps this was more likely that she thought.
Shiori continued to type out her notes. It became quite clear why the police suspected icicles, according to her source. It would explain the watered down puddles of blood. Apparently there was also soneone's dna in these puddles, however that could occur.
After some pondering, Shiori decided that she was going to keep her article vague and not mention the exact nature of the traces found. Thankfully, the newspaper she worked for wasn't a tabloid one, so she would not have to use a headline like "Icicle Murderer on Killing Spree!"
