Icky Sickies Prompt

Fleur walked slowly around her potion shop, taking inventory. Flu season was quickly approaching, which meant that she would need more remedies for the common cold than she would at any other time of the year. She made note of some of her less popular remedies so she knew where she should focus on rearranging; potentially stocking less of a certain product so she could place more cold remedies on the shelves.

Thankfully, Fleur rarely got sick herself. She was always conscientious of her own wellbeing, and always took precautions to keep herself healthy, such as a frequent handwashing and regularly cleaning surfaces in her shop, especially things like the sale counter that sick customers might interact with.

It wasn’t sickness itself that she feared; no, it was that she dreaded having to temporarily close her shop if she fell ill. She would feel terrible if someone stopped by because they needed a potion, only to be disappointed. It was especially important for her cured clientele who needed constant doses to keep their necrosis at bay, and hers was the most accessible. No one else dared to publicly sell cures after seeing everything that Fleur had to deal with, and any that were being sold in the background would cost an arm and a leg. There were many wonderful things about life in the Crystal Isles, but this was not one of them. That’s why Fleur was so passionate about making a positive difference, and why closing her shop was something she wanted to avoid at all costs. This meant, of course, avoiding sickness at all costs.

There were many martyrs in this world. People who would sacrifice themselves in a noble attempt to save everyone else. But for Fleur, it was quite the opposite: she had to prioritize herself if she was to help all the sickly who needed her.
