Average Brownies

Fleur was set to have a long day today, so Sonia wanted to do something nice for her busy girlfriend. She thought about cooking a meal, but they already had a few days of leftovers ready and they should really eat those first… but what if she baked a nice dessert? 

Sonia would consider herself an average baker. Everything she made was edible and enjoyable, but it was never anything gourmet-level or over the top. She usually just picked out and followed recipes online that looked good, and never experimented or substituted ingredients. She wasn’t confident enough in her abilities to go that far, unlike Fleur whose potion mixing skills had transferred to her cooking abilities and allowed her to elevate recipes through experimentation. Still, Sonia wouldn’t let that discourage her from doing something nice. 

After scrolling through her phone to look for recipes and also double checking what ingredients they had on hand, Sonia decided to go with just some simple brownies. Brownies for brownie points? The thought made her chuckle as she gathered what she needed. First, she mixed the dry ingredients such as the sugar and cocoa powder separately from the wet ingredients. Carefully mixing the two together, she formed a thick batter. She slowly poured the batter into a baking pan, taking extra time to spread it out evenly with her spatula thanks to its thick texture. Once she was satisfied with the spread, she finally placed the pan in the oven that had been preheating while she had created the batter, and set a timer for 45 minutes. 

Now all she had to do was wait. First for the brownies to finish cooking and cooling, then for her girlfriend to get home. Sonia smiled to herself. She loved these perfectly average days with perfectly average brownies.
