Puppy Eyes

Lilla My was a menace. It was well known at her home and she seemed eager to know every newcomer to learn that. Somehow, the tiny dextro managed to boss around far larger animals, like the cowcaps that Momme was growing. Thankfully for everyone, she had little intent of abusing her superior position in the household.

Unless treats were at stake.

Lilla My loved treats, and she had her own definition of what qualified as one. It could be an actual pet treat, it could be sweets, or a mushrooms she hadn't had in a while. She was also convinced that she deserved all the treats simply because she existed and they did, too. Unfortunately for Momme, Snorre, and Frauke, she was also very determined to make sure her needs were met, and creative about making them known.

Recently, she had noticed that Momme had fed some of the cowcaps with special pet cookies that she hadn't seen before. Naturally, she wanted to try them. For Momme, it meant he had to make sure these cookies were locked away savely. For Lilla My, it meant she needed help. 

For Snorre, it meant he was now targeted. Frauke and Momme had mastered the art of saying no to the dextro. Snorre hadn't, as this was the first winter he spent snowed in with her, and Lilla My was keenly aware of that.

She pushed open the door to Snorre's room, where he was sitting at the window, an open book on his lap, staring at the outside world.

Without hesitation, she jumped onto the lap, knocking down the book in the process. She looked straight up into Snorre's surprised white eyes, making her own as big as possible.

He chuckled and began petting her.

"Are you looking for attention?" He asked gently. Lilla My responding with a purring sound and jumped off his lap, looking back at him as she landed. Snorre made the grave mistake of getting up and following her. The gextro lead him down the stairs and into the greenhouse, making sure he was keeping up. He looked around the greenhouse, curious as to why the little animal wanted him to come here. The cowcaps were equally curious about their presence and watched calmly what their visitors were doing. Lilla My went straight for the little shed attached to the greenhouse and scratched lightly on the wooden door. 

"I'm not sure you should be in there", Snorre said, but still went over to her. The shed was not locked, but it still felt like trespassing, seeing as Momme the one who took care of the greenhouse and the cowcaps. As soon as the door opened, the dextro scurried past it, and began to look around, climbing tools and shelves, sniffing and searching intensely for something.

"Oh, I know what this is about", Snorre chuckled and held up a box secured with a padlock.

"I'm sorry Lilla My, but I can't give you these", he said and put the box back where he had found it.

The gextro followed his movements closely. Her initial excitement about seeing the box was replaced by disbelief as it was put away unopened. She stared at him and made the highest pitched sounds she was able to, dropping them slightly at the end.

"I really can't do that", Snorre explained, but the gextro kept whining.

"I'm sorry."

Lilla My refused to give up.

Snorre turned his head away. The whining stopped and instead there was a soft, short rumbling sound coming from the reddish animal.

"I guess one won't hurt. But that's just this one time ", Snorre sighed. Thankfully the key was nearby. The box contained a lot of different cookies, and while Snorre was not exactly sure what each was, he figured the green mushroom shaped one could be a flavour Lilla My would like.

As soon as she saw the treat in his hand, she climbed up his body and snatched it.

"You rascal!", Snorre complained, but still with a warm tone in his voice. With her head held high and proud, Lilla My paraded back into the greenhouse, still chewing.
