When designing a MYO Dextroluma it's important that you read each of the sections listed below carefully to ensure the approval process goes smoothly for all parties! In this guide we will go over the basics of designing Dextroluma, restrictions, how to update designs and how to submit MYOs.

GUIDELINES

- DO NOT copy previously made designs or designs that already exist in the community.

- DO NOT base characters on real people, celebrities, family members or friends.

- Canon characters must be inspired designs and not exact copies, palettes must be mixed up, weapons and clothing must not be identical, appearances must be unique. Duplicates of existing canon characters are bound to happen and this is often why we discourage basing your MYOs on canon characters.

- Regarding Dextroluma AUs, these are allowed and welcomed, however EACH AU must all stay under the same character profile and tab. If you're trading/reselling the Dextroluma, the whole character and its AUs will go with it, as it's effectively the same design. Please understand our reasoning behind this! We strongly encourage those making AUs to use a character that won't ever be traded!

- Prosthetic limbs can be built in shapes of just about anything, this includes basing them on animalistic limbs! Materials such as glass, filled spaces with liquids, metal, mecha, wood, etc are all fair game to use, so there's plenty of fun things to add to your Dextroluma as long as they're obviously prosthetic and NOT fused to the body it will be approved!

- Prosthetic also can apply to fins that have been lost / torn away, these can be added back onto the Dextroluma and again must be obviously prosthetic and not at all fused to the body. Again you are also able to use any materials you see fit your design!

- Please ask permission from designers before making duplicates of characters (Even if they're your friends!)

- Original Designer permission is needed when converting a design into or out of the species.

- Memorial characters / designs are STRICTLY discouraged. If you go down this route, it's at the discretion of the owner and ONLY the owner, do not give this information to future owners. It is VERY touchy. This also falls under the 2nd guideline of not creating characters based on real people.

- Absolutely no tracing, heavy referencing is fine but please try to use resources from bases, 3D poses and so on rather than tracing anyone's work. If we find you tracing we will approach you privately about the matter.

As we are a 10 year old species and have developed massively over time, searching for examples of traits on the masterlist should be done with caution as there may be some inconsistencies as we’ve streamlined things and tried to make things more consistent over time.

Additional Guidelines may be added to if anything is missing, announcements will be made if so.

DEXTROLUMA DESIGN

To submit a Dextroluma to the masterlist a design is required. Dextroluma designs must showcase ALL traits on the masterlist entry, so if clothing happens to obscure any traits we will ask you to provide an additional nude reference.. Additional images such as nude, extra outfits, intricate details may be submitted AFTER a design has been approved.

For all Dextroluma to be approved, they require the following to be present on the design image: Fins, Horns, Glowing Eyes and optionally, baubles.
You can find more in depth information on the Anatomy and traits of Dextroluma on the Dextroluma page.

Below, we’ve provided some examples to help you in your designing journey!

Dextroluma can come in all different shapes and sizes and there are no heavy restrictions at all when designing as long as they are recognizable as Dextroluma! This means they must have the required traits!

All Dextroluma must have a fin style, horns, glowing eyes and optionally baubles -the glowing teardrops which are seen at the tips of the spines on fins- these are the common traits you will see.

Restrictions

We don’t have many restrictions for creating Dextroluma, however please do follow carefully below to ensure there are no problems during the approval process!

EYE COLOR

Dextroluma eyes are ONE singular color*. These colors can be White, Grey or Black to represent their status; Pure, Cured and Corrupted. For an in depth guide on this, please refer to the Corruption section on the Dextroluma Page.
*With the exception of the admin trait in which the eyes can match the color of the fins.

GLOW COLORED EYES

In some rare cases a Dextroluma eyes may match their fin color(s) This can appear in many different ways as shown below! The eyes can be entirely fin colored or partially (with the original white, grey or black eyes). The last example shown showcases the eyes with the multicolored glow mutation.

FIN STYLES

Dextroluma cannot have just any fin style, there are set styles within the species that must be used when creating your Dextroluma! For more information, please refer to our Fin Styles here.
Fins can be of any size and positioned horizontally or vertically, baubles can also come in a variety of different shapes or they can simply not be included!

HORN STYLES

Horns can be of any size and positioned horizontally or vertically, there is no restrictions on horn sizes or shapes! All Horns should be either skin colored, fin colored or a mixture of both!

MARKINGS

All Dextroluma must have markings and they must be of the fins color and can appear in a variety of different ways! Freckles, intricate shapes, gradients and more! If you have the multicolored glow mutation, markings can get a lot more fun!

Regional traits

Regional traits are common and do not require any upgrades of the sort. You can mix and match with their related regions/regional groups but you cannot, for example, mix magma horns (Volcano) with arctic fur (Arctic) For more information refer to the Regional Traits page.

SEASONAL traits

Seasonal Traits may only be obtained by special event or by purchasing an adopt with said traits released in advent times (October and December). For more information refer to the Seasonal Traits page.

Design Tips

Need some more guidance? Not a problem, here are a few things to get you started with designing your Dextroluma!

- Pick a theme or moodboard to get started! Having trouble picking just one? More than one moodboard or inspiration board is more than welcome!

- Still not satisfied with the moodboard? How about basing them on the region they live in! With the addition of regional traits, Dextroluma are even more fun to design!

- A fun challenge is to pick a specific trait and build your Dextroluma from there, for example: A Dextroluma with Wing styled fins could be something angelic, fairy like!

- Horns don’t have to be symmetrical at all! So live your best asymmetrical life and make some funky and unique shapes with your Dextrolumas horns!

- Fins are only symmetrical on the head! The body fin placements can be anywhere you like… Yes, even there.

- Don’t forget, you are able to submit your design for Crystals once approved! To do so, you’ll submit it via the General Submission prompt! Don’t forget the calculator!
