When designing a MYO Lockette it's important that you read each of the sections listed below carefully to ensure the approval process goes smoothly for all parties! In this guide we will go over the basics of designing Lockette, restrictions, how to update designs and how to submit MYOs.

GUIDELINES

- DO NOT copy previously made designs or designs that already exist in the community.

- DO NOT base characters on real people, celebrities, family members or friends.

- Canon characters must be inspired designs and not exact copies, palettes must be mixed up, weapons and clothing must not be identical, appearances must be unique. Duplicates of existing canon characters are bound to happen and this is often why we discourage basing your MYOs on canon characters.

- Regarding Lockette AUs, these are allowed and welcomed, however EACH AU must all stay under the same character profile and tab. If you're trading/reselling the Lockette, the whole character and its AUs will go with it, as it's effectively the same design. Please understand our reasoning behind this! We strongly encourage those making AUs to use a character that won't ever be traded!

- Prosthetic limbs can be built in shapes of just about anything, this includes basing them on animalistic limbs! Materials such as glass, filled spaces with liquids, metal, mecha, wood, etc are all fair game to use, so there's plenty of fun things to add to your Lockette as long as they're obviously prosthetic and NOT fused to the body it will be approved!

- Prosthetic also can partially apply to tails or ears that have been lost / torn away, however, the charm must be attached to part of the original area that remains.

- Please ask permission from designers before making duplicates of characters (Even if they're your friends!)

- Original Designer permission is needed when converting a design into or out of the species.

- Memorial characters / designs are STRICTLY discouraged. If you go down this route, it's at the discretion of the owner and ONLY the owner, do not give this information to future owners. It is VERY touchy. This also falls under the 2nd guideline of not creating characters based on real people.

- Absolutely no tracing, heavy referencing is fine but please try to use resources from bases, 3D poses and so on rather than tracing anyone's work. If we find you tracing we will approach you privately about the matter.

As we are a 10 year old species and have developed massively over time, searching for examples of traits on the masterlist should be done with caution as there may be some inconsistencies as we’ve streamlined things and tried to make things more consistent over time.

Additional Guidelines may be added to if anything is missing, announcements will be made if so.

Lockette Design

To submit a Lockette to the masterlist a design is required. Lockette designs must showcase ALL traits on the masterlist entry, so if clothing happens to obscure any traits we will ask you to provide an additional nude reference.. Additional images such as nude, extra outfits, intricate details may be submitted AFTER a design has been approved.

For all Lockettes to be approved, they require the following to be present on the design image: Mammalian Ears and Tail, Collar, Charm, Summon(s), Keyhole(s) and Shell Type.
You can find more in depth information on the Anatomy and traits of Lockettes on the Lockette page.

Below, we’ve provided some examples to help you in your designing journey!

Anatomy of a Lockette

Lockettes can come in all different shapes and sizes and there are no heavy restrictions at all when designing as long as they are recognizable as Lockette! This means they must have the required traits!

All Lockette must have Mammalian Ears and Tail, A Collar, Charms, Summon(s), Keyhole(s) and Shell Type. these are the common traits you will see.

Lockettes are a heavily humanoid species and so what this means is, bodies can be anywhere from slim and slender to large, muscular or chubby! Have fun with your facial structure and body types, we love seeing unique and fun styles!

Restrictions

We don’t have many restrictions for creating Lockette, however please do follow carefully below to ensure there are no problems during the approval process!

Ears & Tails

Land Mammals only!

Seasonal traits

Seasonal Traits may only be obtained by special event or by purchasing an adopt with said traits released in advent times (October and December). For more information refer to the Seasonal Traits page.

For animalistic traits only the limbs can be affected! So hands, arms, legs, feet. Body can grow fur in places. NO Anthro snouts.

Design Tips

Need some more guidance? Not a problem, here are a few things to get you started with designing your Lockette!

- Pick a theme or moodboard to get started! Having trouble picking just one? More than one moodboard or inspiration board is more than welcome!

- A fun challenge is to pick a specific trait and build your Lockette from there, for example: A Lockette with Wing shaped charms could be something angelic, fairy like!

- Don’t forget, you are able to submit your design for Crystals once approved! To do so, you’ll submit it via the General Submission prompt! Don’t forget the calculator!

SUBMITTING YOUR LOCKETTE DESIGN

We’ve gotten this far and it’s time to submit your Lockette design! Let’s go over the requirements below to do exactly that! This will also apply not only to the main masterlist image, but additional reference images as well:

- The image must be a .PNG file

- The image must be no bigger than 1500px by 1500px

- The image must be TRANSPARENT, this means no backgrounds or additional effects applied to the reference.

- Design must be front facing and have ALL traits visible, nothing hidden or cut off.

- Design must include one (1) full body Lockette only showcasing all traits (No close up shots, details etc). This image can be nude (or barbie nude) and will be censored as such if so.

Submitting a MYO design

To submit your MYO to the masterlist, please follow the steps below! Please be sure to click the save button after each tab has been filled in so you don’t lose your progress!

STEP 1

Go to your MYO slots page and select the masterlist entry, from there click Submit MYO Design on the sidebar and then click Create Request.

STEP 2

Go to the Masterlist Image tab and upload your design following the guidelines above. You may use the image cropper to create a thumbnail, please ensure the thumbnail is a close up of your Lockette’s face, though we can always fix this mod side if it’s a little off!

Please be sure to add in designer and artist credits!

STEP 3
If your design has additional traits such as mutations, you will apply these in the Add-Ons tab. Be sure to add the items from your inventory, these will be removed upon approval!

STEP 4
Once you’re done with Add-Ons, move over to the Traits tab, here you will list ALL traits your Lockette has. This step may get confusing but don’t worry if you mess up, everything can be fixed on the admin side!

When listing traits, it can get a little overwhelming but that’s what this guide is for! For reference you can follow this list when submitting your MYO.

- Charm Shape: (Geometric shapes are COMMON, Custom shapes are RARE)

- Collar Style: (Band style collars are COMMON, anything else is RARE)

- Keyhole Amount: (One is COMMON, Two or more is RARE)

- Keyhole Shape: (Standard is COMMON, Custom is MUTATED)

- Summon Type: (Weapon is COMMON, anything else is RARE)

- Summon Amount: (Two or less is COMMON, Three or more is RARE)

- Shell Type(s): (In-tact, Articulated and BJD is COMMON, Fragmented is RARE

- Saura Type(s): (Standard Saura is COMMON, Anything else is ADMIN)

- Add ons: -Any additional traits such as mutations or seasonal (if any)

Do NOT submit a Title if the option appears.

STEP 5
We’re done with all the important bits! The comments tab is usually left blank so no need to worry about this, click save and move back to the Status tab and finally click Submit Request.

Now all that’s left to do is sit back and wait for an admin to approve your design! If you have any issues listing traits or credits, these will be fixed by an admin. However, if there are issues with your design a moderator will cancel your submission and list what needs to be fixed. You can keep tabs on your pending, approved and rejected designs via the Design Approvals page.

Submitting additional reference images

Once a Lockette has been approved you may submit additional references as needed! This includes nude references, alternate outfits, back views etc.

To submit these images you must go to your approved character, then Update Design on the sidebar. From here you may submit your additional image for approval, be sure to add the correct credits for artist and designer! As a note, you will have to do this for each image you are adding to the masterlist entry.

REDESIGNING AND UPDATING A DESIGN

Redesigning or updating a design is similar to that of submitting additional reference images, except it will replace the main masterlist image and the old images will be labeled as outdated

To do either of these, go to your characters masterlist entry and click Update Design on the sidebar.

When submitting a redesign, please do include in the Comments tab permission given from the designer IF the original designer does not have their TOS listed onsite.

If you are adding, removing or changing traits, please be sure to include the correct trait item in the Add-Ons section. These are called [TBA] and can be purchased here!
