When designing a MYO Kipitin it's important that you read each of the sections listed below carefully to ensure the approval process goes smoothly for all parties! In this guide we will go over the basics of designing Kipitin, restrictions, how to update designs and how to submit MYOs.

GUIDELINES

DO NOT copy previously made designs or designs that already exist in the community.

DO NOT base characters on real people, celebrities, family members or friends.

- Canon characters must be inspired designs and not exact copies, palettes must be mixed up, weapons and clothing must not be identical, appearances must be unique. Duplicates of existing canon characters are bound to happen and this is often why we discourage basing your MYOs on canon characters.

- Regarding Kipitin AUs, these are allowed and welcomed, however EACH AU must all stay under the same character profile and tab. If you're trading/reselling the Kipitin, the whole character and its AUs will go with it, as it's effectively the same design. Please understand our reasoning behind this! We strongly encourage those making AUs to use a character that won't ever be traded!

- Please ask permission from designers before making duplicates of characters (Even if they're your friends!)

- Original Designer permission is needed when converting a design into or out of the species.

- Memorial characters / designs are STRICTLY discouraged. If you go down this route, it's at the discretion of the owner and ONLY the owner, do not give this information to future owners. It is VERY touchy. This also falls under the 2nd guideline of not creating characters based on real people.

- Absolutely no tracing, heavy referencing is fine but please try to use resources from bases, 3D poses and so on rather than tracing anyone's work. If we find you tracing we will approach you privately about the matter.

Additional Guidelines may be added to if anything is missing, announcements will be made if so.

KIPITIN DESIGN

To submit a Kipitin to the masterlist, a design is required. Kipitin designs must showcase ALL traits on the masterlist entry, so if clothing happens to obscure any traits we will ask you to provide an additional nude reference.. Additional images such as nude, extra outfits, intricate details may be submitted AFTER a design has been approved.

For all Kipitin to be approved, they require the following to be present on the design image: A set of scattered horns, scattered ears, a marking somewhere on their body and smoke at the base of their legs. You can find more in depth information on the Anatomy and traits of Kipitin on the Kipitin page.

Below, we’ve provided some examples to help you in your designing journey!

ANATOMY OF A KIPITIN

Kipitin can come in all different shapes and sizes and there are no heavy restrictions at all when designing as long as they are recognizable as Kipitin! This means they must have the required traits!

All Kipitin must have a set of scattered horns, scattered ears, a marking somewhere on their body and smoke at the base of their legs- these are the common traits you will see.

RESTRICTIONS

We don’t have many restrictions for creating Kipitin, however please do follow carefully below to ensure there are no problems during the approval process!

SCLERA & SMOKE

Most kipitins have black sclera as well as having smoke that is a gradient from black to the color of their pupils. In special cases, some kipitins have white sclera, and/or have smoke colors that do not fit the typical combination of a gradient from black to the color of their pupils. Some may have white smoke in place of the black, others may have three or more colors in their smoke or even patterns.

HORN STYLES

All Kipitin horns can be made from glass, metal, or crystal, and there is no rarity for any material option. Below are a few examples of Kipitin horn shapes! For additional horn styles available to use, please refer to our Horn Styles here.

EAR STYLES

Kipitin ears always have a minimum of two colors, typically either seen in a gradient or as one color for the exterior of the ear and one color for the interior. Below are a few examples of Kipitin earshapes! For additional ear styles available to use, please refer to our Ear Styles here.

MARKINGS

All Kipitin must have a marking somewhere on their body! They can appear in a variety of different ways; Freckles, intricate shapes, gradients and more! Colors are fair game, so enjoy making them whatever color you like!  This marking will also appear on the forehead of their smoke demon form, should you choose to design one.

SEASONAL TRAITS

At the moment, Kipitins do not have seasonal traits.  Should this change, this section will be filled out with information.

DESIGN TIPS

Need some more guidance? Not a problem, here are a few things to get you started with designing your Kipitin!

- Pick a theme or moodboard to get started! Having trouble picking just one? More than one moodboard or inspiration board is more than welcome!

- A fun challenge is to pick a specific trait and build your Kipitin from there, for example: A Kipitin with Feathered Wings could be something angelic!

- Don’t forget, you are able to submit your design for Crystals once approved! To do so, you’ll submit it via the General Submission prompt! Don’t forget the calculator!
