At first glance, Ashe is everything someone would expect of royalty of the crystal region: pretty, airheaded, snooty, and spoiled. Just another rich noble who was lucky enough to become queen. However, this is all an act. Truthfully, Ashe has a razor sharp intellect, but she hides it behind a façade. She prefers it when others underestimate her because that makes it easier for her to engineer things to her advantage. She doesn't do this out of malice, but moreso to protect herself and her people. For example, if she decides to redecorate and renovate the palace, no one bats an eye because they think it's to be expected of a spoiled rich girl. Any spies for the corrupt region wouldn't even think to report something so minor... and they would have no idea that Ashe's real goal was to rearrange the palace in such a way to confuse and thwart any attacks like the one on the previous queen Val. Their information on the layout would be outdated. 

Ashe's nature also makes her job easier in terms of dealing with the Crystal region's many nobles. The nobility are very often difficult to work with and selfish, preferring laws that benefit themselves and wanting to keep out those they deem as lesser. Ashe often has to find a way to keep them appeased while also working to help the common folk, and the nobles don't feel threatened when she acts like one of them; they assume she's easy to manipulate and don't realize that she's five steps ahead of them. Ashe cares a lot for her people and will do her best for them, even if she has to resort to strange or uncouth measures.
