Lockettes have known of kipitins for a very long time, as lockettes who have met their demise in fire have returned as vengeful kipitins with some frequency.  The exact mechanics of how one becomes a kipitin, however, are enough of a mystery that plenty of lockettes are still willing to fight and kill others with fire.

Lockettes are unable to travel freely to Ignis, however Kipitins can and do choose to reside in Maquette.  Although kipitins cannot be killed, there are plenty of lockettes who are capable of at least temporarily handling them, although there are no known measures that can permanently remove one if they wish to be somewhere.  Lockettes generally err on caution in interactions with kipitin residents, due to this.
