First Contact with Humans
Long before Aerius had met any other species, the dextroluma had made it to space. The dextroluma of Galactica were still considered strange and mysterious by most planet-side dextroluma when the humans first appeared.
There was a distant sort of friendliness at first. The first humans arrived during a time where Aerius was a bit… messier than most dextroluma of the era would have liked to admit. Several Royals had been removed from their positions either by Queen Lotus or evicted by their own people, and others the lines had been broken with no clear successors. There were plans to explore the one landmass on Aerius that was still uncontacted and unexplored, which were scrapped after one pair of Royals were removed, who had once been set to lead it. To add to the disarray, Queen Lotus herself retired not long after the first contact with humans, passing these burdens onto her daughter Queen Deja. Rumors held that she had come into possession of a strange object and been bewitched by it - or that she was studying it, depending on who you asked.
Whispers abounded that Queen Deja might be too gentle for such complex times, but those seemed unfounded with time. She brokered alliances with the remaining royals, including her own marriage to Silvius, who would be her consort. She built more regular contact with humans, and believed that their two species could form a wonderful partnership - humans, with their short lives, were very proactive about things, while dextroluma, with their long lives, had perhaps more patience than they should. She believed the two species could temper one another’s worst tendencies, and encouraged humans and dextroluma alike to visit each others’ planets - and even to live there. Humans became abundant on Aerius in her reign, and nowhere more-so than in Harmony, the capitol of the Verdant Kingdom where she resided. Humans knew what they wanted from a relationship with the dextroluma - the fantastical medical technologies that the dextroluma possessed would, they believed, make life significantly better for humankind, and they entered Harmony with great expectations.
Lotus had initially been Queen Deja’s advisor, but she had been growing more distant during this period - less often present, less often in contact… Eventually, Queen Deja broke and declared her missing, scouring Aerius and its space for her mother… Even the humans helped. There was no luck, though - it was unknown what had happened to Lotus. Queen Deja resisted declaring her dead, but she was undeniably distraught. Rumors swirled as the years passed that perhaps she was no longer fit to rule, or that the dreams she was supposedly having of her mother were driving her to the brink…
Perhaps, if dextroluma and humans had more similar views of time, things might not have unfolded as they did. Unfortunately, a decade can slip by for a being who can live multiple centuries, while for a being who only lives one… it drags.
