Los Diabolos

The town did not originally hold this name, but was nicknamed this by a group of humans who were ejected from the Great Sea of Sand very early in their species' time on Aerius.  However, the Queen of that era had thought the name and its meaning amusing, and decided to keep it - including the typo one of the humans had repeatedly made when mentioning the city in text.

Los Diabolos does not sustain its population on its own.  Its original purpose was the training of the Royal Guard and serving as the home of the then ruler of the Great Sea of Sand, and the former, at least, remains its main purpose.  Still, over time, changes have snuck in - retired Royal Guards sometimes live there, enjoying the closed society, and even an occasional outsider may be allowed to live there, though few are sure exactly what the criteria is for allowing that...  Most importantly, perhaps, the Queen no longer resides there, with the old palace in Los Diabolos converted into an archive of the prior administrations.
