Species

Dextroluma are a species of amphibious humanoid beings who exist in symbiosis with the magical mushrooms that grow on their homeworld, Aerius.  They are highly advanced, but have worked to preserve their natural environments.  The most notable traits of dextroluma are the fins that not only are present where human ears would be, but that also typically grow elsewhere on their bodies, the color(s) that glow on their fins and from markings on their bodies, and their glowing eyes, which are most often white, grey, or black.

Lockettes are a species of kemonomimi dolls who inhabit the magical dimension of Maquette.  Their most notable traits are their keyholes, which allow them to expel excess energy, the collars fused to their shells, their magical summons, and the charms that are present on their ears, tail, collar, and summon.  Occasionally, shells created to house new lockettes will instead be taken by a departed dextroluma, producing what is known as a dexette, who will display traits that are a mix of the two species.

Gextro are a small amphibious species that have been domesticated by dextroluma for millennia.  They share very similar traits to dextroluma, including even possessing the same fin types, as the two species are very closely related.  Unlike dextroluma and draphibians, however, they are not sophonts.  Instead, they are more akin to the intelligence and awareness of a cat or a dog.  They are quadrupedals.

Draphibians are the closest living relative to the dextroluma and gextro, although they are far larger than both their cousins.  They share the same traits as their cousins overall, but are most notable for their ability to switch between being bipedal and quadrupedal.  Like dextroluma, draphibians are sophonts - that is, capable of advanced thought and consciousness.  (Their intelligence seems to cap at around the equivalent of a typical ten year old child, however).  They seem to be content sharing a living relationship with their cousins, and seem to enjoy the challenges found in working as mounts and draft animals, so long as they are treated well and receive good food and care.  An upset or mistreated draphibian will usually take steps to destroy whatever is hurting or upsetting them.

Kipitins are a species of smoke demons.  Once mortals, they all died by fire and with rage in their hearts.  Although a kipitin's true form is fully smoke, they possess the ability to use magic to create a secondary form, which is generally humanoid.  Their most distinctive traits are the smoke that curls from where their feet would be, and their scattered horns and ears.
